In this building there is a hierarchy between the windows. Also the red parts of this building create a contrast. The position and order of these chairs creates a rhythm. The space used in this building has been created figure-ground relationship. The door is the dominant element of the building because of it's size  Stone columns , stone walls and metal cladding created a color and texture contrast  the stones that cover the entire floor of the campus creates a pattern

30 October - 2 Nowember 2017 / Rhythm

Resim
Given : Grey cardboard (27,5 x 39,5 cm ) Two sets of letters in black and white You are required to make a 2D composition representing the concept of Rhythm using the letters as design elements. Use at least five letters in your design. You ca scale, mirror and rotate the elements or groups.

26-30 October 2017 / Hierarchy

Resim
Given : Black cardboard ( 26,5 x 40,5 cm ) Craft paper Newspaper ( black and white ) You are required to make a composition ( a relief ) representing the concept of hierarchy by using cylindrical shapes made out of newspaper and craft paper. You can use these cylindrical shapes both vertically and horizontally to the black cardboard. You are also required to generate cylinders in various radii and heights. Remember that the cylindrical shapes should be placed seamlessly on the cardboard. Therefore, the black cardboard can contribute to design as a background element only through the vertical cylinders. Use only the text, not images, on the newspaper. The dimension of the text is an important design parameter that has an influence on your design principles. My first work : My second work :

23-26 October 2017 / Dominance and Contrast

Resim
Given :  Paper band with a width of 1 cm  Black cardboard 29x41 cm You are required to make a 2D composition representing the concepts of dominance / contrast. Stripes of paper band should span from the cardboard's edge to edge. Partial stripes are not allowed. My first work :  My second work :

19-23 October 2017 / Repitition and Variation 3

Resim
Given : 7 rectangles, 13 triangles, 5 parrallelograms and 5 circle Using the given shapes as design elements, make a 2D design organization on black cardboard ( 28,5 X 42 cm). The exact dimensions of these elements are yours to decide. You should vary the scale of the elements, but not their proportions. The design elements  should be in white and a single shade of grey color. My work :

16-19 October 2017 / Repitition and Variation 2

Resim
Given : 5 rectangles, 11 triangles, 7 parallelograms Using the given shapes as design elements, make a 2D design organization on black cardboard (26,5 x 41). The exact dimensions of these elements are yours to decide. You should vary the scale of the elements, but not their proportions. The design elements should be in white and a single shade of grey color. My work : Photograph 1: Photograph 2: In this photo one element of my design is missing  but quality of this photo is better than the first photograph so I uploaded this one. ( NOTE : When the projects were collected , my project was deformed. )

9-16 October 2017 / Assignment 2 ( Repitition and Variation )

Phase 1- Initial design elements Select three tonal areas from your assignment 1. Trace the outlines of these areas ang generate three shapes. Cut out these shapes from cardboard in values of greyscale. These shapes will be your initial design elements. Phase 2 - Design organization  On a back cardboard ( 26,5 x 41 cm), make a 2D design using your design elements. In this design, you need to repeat and vary these elements to come up with a design organization. The variation operations that you can apply include scaling, rotating and/or mirroring. My first work: My second work: My third work : I changed my design elements because shapes of my old elements could not fit each other.

5-9 October 2017 / Assignment 1.

Phase 1.  We are required to walk around the faculty building to take several photographs. From these photos, slect one that contains all tonal values of grey - from white to black. By using the monochrome filter on our device, transform our photo to a greyscale mode. Then, print it out on an A3-size paper.  My photo : Phase 2.  In this phase, you are required to create an abstract mapping of your image cardboard by using lines. My work :
